Über vielfach geschichtetes Papier erzeugt Li-Chu haptische Strukturen in subtiler Bewegung. Sich konzentrisch ausdehnende Papierschichten verleihen den Schmuckstücken eine faszinierende Komplexität und Filigranität. Die Künstlerin arbeitet mit einer Kombination aus klassischer Schmiede- und moderner Lasertechnik. Ihr Anliegen ist es, die Verbindung zwischen dem Material und seiner natürlichen Quelle neu herzustellen. Dank ihrer skulpturalen Formen wirken die Teile auch jenseits ihres eigentlichen Zwecks als Schmuckstück.
Li-Chu’s work is all about paper and layers, using multiple layers to create subtle movement and tactile qualities. Applying a mix of metalsmithing techniques and new technologies, she manipulates layered paper, allowing it to expand in a concentric format, creating intricate, elaborate and unique body adornments. With the inspiration from nature, she aims to recreate the link between the material and its original source in the natural environment. The pieces function both as wearable pieces of body adornment and as sculptural objects off the body.
